Keep Warm Keep Well

The cold can be a killer, especially for frail elderly people and those who are already ill.  NHS Bolton is urging healthy people to keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours and check they are keeping their homes warm enough.

Penioners receive extra payments specifically to keep warm in winter, and shouldn't be tempted to cut back on heating and use this money for less urgent priorities.

Rooms where you spend most time should be heated to 21C (70F) during the day.  It's best to keep the heating on for longer in cold weather rather than turning up the thermostat for short periods.

Eat well to keep your body well-fuelled and have hot drinks regularly, wear plenty of layers, and find out about the help available to insulate and heat your home.
