Scaling new heights and now expanding across the whole of the north west region, the North West Placement Development Network is growing - both in terms of size and radical development.
An initiative from way back in 2002, the Network has been very successful in expanding placement capacity for learners, predominantly in nursing, and mainly across the Greater Manchester area.
Due to the recognition of this success and a huge investment from NHS North West, the Network is now embracing new partners, in practice and education, and is working creatively to expand capacity across all healthcare professions in the North West.
Linking into the NHS North West education and learning pledges, and working across and beyond traditional boundaries, the Network aims to develop the breadth and depth of the student experience by working in partnership with the private, voluntary and independent sectors.
The new Network is now hosted by NHS Bolton where the head of network, communication lead and the network support officer are already based.
There are three locality teams based in the north west region -
Each team is managed by a placement development lead, based with the Team. Recruitment is continuing to secure a minimum of six FTE placement development managers for each team, along with a team administrator.
The North West Placement Development Network has a revised structure and has identied key priority professions to work with.
