Using technology to support health services

 

Computer technology is a vital tool in ensuring that the NHS is able to provide safe, effective and efficient services to all its patients.  Developments that are happening as part of the National Programme for IT include hospital doctors being able to view a patient's x-rays on screen rather than sending off for the hard copies, and computer systems being able to track which staff have looked at a patient's records to ensure that this was appropriate.
