It's estimated that 307 different languages are regularly spoken in the UK. NHS Bolton is working to make sure language and communication problems do not interfere with good care and treatment for patients and their families.
Please note the following arrangements will be in place as of September 1 2010:
The PCT has arrangements with thebigword for telephone interpretation. This can be accessed by staff directly by ringing 0800 757 3053 (24 hour, seven days-a-week service). You will need an ID Code to access this service, which your service manager should have. Alternatively you can contact Yasmin or Ilyas on 01204 463728/3697
NHS Bolton employs two link workers - Yasmin Manjra and Ilyas Adam - who can provide face-to-face interpretation in Urdu, Hindi and Gujarati, by appointment.

For face-to-face interpreters in Urdu, Hindi and Gujarati, our link workers should always be used in the first instance.
