Primary care services

Primary care usually refers to the first line of NHS services - such as your own family doctor and the team at the surgery, or your high street pharmacist.  Much of this primary care is provided by independent contractors rather than NHS employees.

Primary care also includes some other services you can access yourself without a referral, such as NHS walk-in centres.

Bolton Primary Care Trust, also known as NHS Bolton, works with all the primary care providers in the Borough to help maintain high standards of care and good, convenient access for patients.
