The Disability Equipment Service including the Integrated Community Equipment Store 

Who we are

The Disability Equipment Service (DES) comprises of:

 

  • A council funded assessment service, who assess peoples needs for disability equipment and or adaptations to homes that facilitate independence.
  • The Integrated Community Equipment Store (ICES) that provides equipment e.g toileting and bathing equipment,beds and hoists that has been identified following an assessment of your needs either by Social or Health Care Professionals.

 

How the Team works

The overall aim of our service is to facilitate peoples independence at home.

The store provides equipment both for this and to support nursing care packages including palliative care and rapid discharge from hospital.

 

What do we offer?

The DES treatment programmes involve strategies to improve independence that may also include the provision of equipment and modifications to peoples homes.

The ICES offers a 7 day delivery and collection service accessed in the main through Health and Social Care Professionals.

 

Support to Professionals

The DES Team including the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Equipment Provision also offers support and training for all Health/Social Care Professionals on any aspect of community equipment.
